Critical Events is a music company born out of the love for niche genres. Officially formed in 2013 off the back of the yearly Hordes Of Belial showcase, we're especially fond of extreme metal and hard rock. Based right in the middle of Scotland, we are in the perfect place to act as the gateway for artists who are serious about reaching Scottish fans, and have used this advantage to help bands break new ground, from classic acts to fresh meat.

Critical Events was brought into being by Hordes Of Belial co-founder, Paul Macmillan, spurred on by a passion for emerging artists and new musical talent. Having been involved in the music industry in various capacities over the last two decades, Paul decided there must be a different way to help these musicians to develop in the UK's burgeoning live scene. 

 

The roots of Critical Events were already reaching into the earth by the time of its official launch, through four years of Hordes Of Belial's quest to make some noise for heavy bands from Scotland, and those coming here to join us. Initially a college project, it took on a life of its own, progressing to become "one of the highlights of the live metal scene North of the border" (Zero Tolerance Magazine). Since then, Critical Events has provided a platform for many bands in the region, from the very first Scottish show for Hecate Enthroned, to kick-starting mini-tours which have brought the UK's rising stars and new talent together.

 

Having hosted live shows in Perth, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow, all efforts are now firmly targeted at developing a solid foundation, with quality at the core of the ethos. This means doing everything possible to help great emerging artists to reach new audiences and new connections, while bringing you the best fresh acts in the business.
